Alan Law qualifies for Nationals
Well done to Alan Law, the toast of Todmorden. Alan, who had only been playing Texas Hold’em for approximately nine weeks, not only made the Regional Final but was chip leader on the final table. Alan played out of his skin to be in this position, but could not maintain it on the final table and finished in an excellent 4th place. Now he cannot wait until the Nationals.
The North West is really buzzing at the moment. New pubs are coming on board daily and I’m very pleased to say that the Last Order chain is joining our poker family. At the time of print we have approximately twenty of them with plenty more to hopefully join.
A big thank you to Carl of Hyde, Mitch of Atherton, Ann of Bolton, and Sandra of Blackpool who have all started off with excellent numbers, and as I have told them all they will all be up to three or four tables every week which will make for a great night out.
I’m very pleased to note the number of female players who are participating in the league and indeed “girl power” is here to stay. I was informed in one of the pubs last week that on the final table there were five ladies and three men playing. The other night I saw someone hitting an inside card to make a straight on fourth street, going all in, being called by two people and losing to a flush on the river – Texas Hold’em can be a very cruel game, but we all still love it!
Finally we are now approaching the half way stage of the final league of the season. The plane is booked, the hotel is booked, all that is missing are the lucky five people and their friends who are off for a fabulous week in the capital of poker – Las Vegas.
As I have said before, the only chance of getting a seat on the plane is first of all making the regionals and then the national finals, so good luck to everybody and try that little bit harder. I hope that the poker gods are kind to you.
