North west regional finals 2009

5 tables of 8 - 9 players started the tournament with 45 entries.  With everyone settled in the tournament got started at 1.15.

The first hand at table `1 has Derick Parkinson winning the first hand with trip 3's good start for him.

Lewis Grady the current National Final winner sat at table 5 takes a big hit to get beat with trip 6's to his pair of 8's on the board.

The first casualty came after 18 minutes with Dave Sangan from the Barons rest going all in with 2 pair 8's and 6's to be beat by Dawn Callow from the Talbot with her Jacks and sixes.

Big stakes again at table 1 with Paul Mella raising with his pocket A's to be beat on the river by a flush.

Craig Cotten then matched Derick Parkinson's all in with K 9 spades to beaten by trip 3's.

At the first break we have 36 left

Soon after start of play James Sweeney-Glover called all in with a pair of aces and was called by Mike Hulligans Ace King suited.  Sweeney had the upper hand and took the pot.

Lewis Grady the current champ is still holding on going all in with his Q9 to Johnny Wilsons Q8 and a Q4.  Lewis took the pot with a pair of Queens and his higher kicker.

At 4.15pm we are down to 2 tables

Mathew Seddon then takes a good stack winning with his pocket 4's to a possible flush draw

Paul Mill with Ad Qc takes takes George Mcphee A2h all in and hits Q on the flop to take 34k and take George out.

Seddon then calls all in with pocket 6's to Simon Thompsons AQ.  An Ace falls on the flop taking Seddon out 25k.

Dawn Callow sat fairly quietly all day the calls all in with pocket A's.  Lewis Calls with pocket J's.  4d, 7s, 6d, Ad, 5d falls on the tables giving Lewis the flush.

We are now down to the final table with

The first casualty on the final table is Tom Wilkins, Then glen Norris we are now down to 8 players and with their only being 7 places to the national finals the players start to sit back not wanting to be in 8th place.

Gavin Southworth calls all in with Kh, 5s to Lewis's 8h 6s. Gavin pulls it through with a flush

James Sweeney-Glover call all in 9,500 with pocket 7's, Simon Thompson calls him with A J.  Sweeney wins with his 7's

Phil Harrison goes out in 8th place.

The play from here on in is fast and furious with players now all having a seat to the National finals.

Lewis Grady calls all in with 10, J against Sweeney and Chris with 3,000.  Manages to pull through with a pair of 10's

Stacey call all in and Simon calls winning with a small pair taking Stacey out in 5th place

Lewis calls all in 4K with K J and doubles up winning with a full house 3's and J's

Chris is out 4th to Stephens pocket A's

Lewis calls all in and Stephen calls him only for Lewis to double up AGAIN!

Lewis then goes out in 3rd place leaving Stephen and Simon heads up

A quick all in from Stephen with Q 5h, bring Simon to call with A's, 4c

Ac, 6c, 5d, 10s, Jc  Simon takes the pot and the tournament with A's

All in all we all had a fantastic day with a lot of new players saying how much the enjoyed it.

I would like to again thank Liverpool Circus Casino for all their help and support on the day as they do a fantastic job and it would not run as smoothly without the staff.
