Hi Everyone,
The Poker in the Pub finalists are now back from Las Vegas
and we have asked all of the players to write a biography of
their time and their experiences whilst they were away. We
will be publishing these in the coming newsletters and on the
forums. The photos will also be added shortly when we have
spoken to everyone and recieved all of their pics.

Poker in the Pub
Mark Valentine's Vegas Trip Report:
Being a lucky guest of one of the National winners, Kerr Harris,
saw me and 19 excited others board our flight to Las Vegas on the
6th of June to take part in the Poker in the Pub Final
Table, and have a week of fun in the gambling capital of the
world.
After a few drinks onboard the flight, several at the Golden
Nugget casino bar, and several at the pool bar courtesy of Dave
Brannan, someone had the bright idea of playing the 8pm NL Holdem
tournament at Binions. Not being able to resist a game at the
spiritual home of poker and the WSOP, it seemed like a great idea!
After an hour it seemed like a terrible idea, when alcohol and jet
lag took its toll and most of us crashed out.
Day 2 took us to the PITP final table, which was held at the
Golden Nugget in their main convention room which was set up for
their own poker tournament. The full report can be read here on the
forum.
For all you poker fans, there was no shortage of tournaments at
any given time of the day, from $50 up to $10,000 at the World
Series (more on that later), and cash games from $1/$2 no limit and
upwards. My first cash was at the 9pm $35 re-buy at Fitzgerald's,
pulling down $300 and covering the drinks bill for the first two
days!!
Monday stared with breakfast in the hotel, sitting next to
Padraig Parkinson and "Mad" Marty Wilson (Google if you don't
know), followed by a whirlwind tour of some of the strip hotels
including stops at the Ice Bar at Mandalay Bay, Nine Fine Irishmen
at New York New York, the Card Room at Bellagio and finishing with
a trip to the World Series of Poker at the Rio.
I had absolutely no idea how accessible the tournament tables
were, and how friendly everyone would be. There is no hiding from
the public and the tables are as close to you as this computer is
to me. We stood watching the six-handed Holdem with Chris Ferguson
on our right, Neil Channing in front of us, and Clonie Gowan on the
left. Neil Channing stood up and came over for a chat about poker
and Scottish Football. We moved on to the H.O.R.S.E tourney to
watch Daniel Negraneu, Mike Matasow and others. As the 7 card stud
was down to heads up, we watched until it finished with Jeff
Lisandro being presented with his 2nd bracelet in two
years.

Ally Mooney's Vegas Trip Report:
Wow, just back from Vegas and what a superb holiday. Those
people who say that Vegas is Disneyworld for adults certainly
aren't lying.
The hotel was absolutely superb, located in downtown Vegas right
on Freemont Street and at night the Freemont Street experience was
really pretty awesome. That's the thing with Vegas, there are
loads of things to do and a lot of them DON'T cost an arm and a
leg. As well as Freemont Street, the fountains at the
Bellagio or the free Sirens of Ti show at Treasure Island were
simply fantastic. In the Golden Nuggett there was also the fabulous
entertainment at the Rush Bar, or upstairs in Gold Diggers where
you could relax and look out over Freemont Street.
Must have put on a a few pounds as well, no wonder the Americans
are so fat as the buffet at the hotel was superb. If you
didn't fancy the buffet then there were loads of other restaurants
in the hotel, from Sushi to Steakhouse to the snack bar, and of
course you could also walk into the restaurants of any of the
casino's so you were certainly spoilt for choice.
Most embarassing moment related to an incident with
Albert. He had been at the bar when a very attractive young
girl asked if he had a light, followed by asking him if he 'wanted
to have some fun?'. This became our little catchphrase.
One night he got ready first and I said I'd meet him down in the
bar and to get the bottle of buds in (which consisted of putting a
dollar in the poker machine at the bar, getting the drinks for free
and tipping the barman another dollar!!) Anyway, I came down
to the bar and walked up behind him and said our catchphrase 'You
wanna have some fuuunnnn', only for a bloke to turn round and
smile............and it wasn't Albert. God I could have
died. Quickly I stammered that I had the wrong person and had
a good laugh about it when I found Albert!!!!!
