The UK's First Live Games Console League

This June will see the launch of Play the Gamer, a PS3 and Xbox 360 competitive live league. Based in various venues all around the country, Play the Gamer (PTG) is a weekly event that involves players competing in a FIFA 10, Call of Duty and Need for Speed tournament. With both regional and national finals, the league will produce the UK's first ever Play the Gamer UK National Console Champion.

With 35 million games consoles sold in the UK over the last 10 years, this young industry has developed into one of the most prominent and contemporary in the world. With other countries boasting long established leagues, the UK has been calling out for a console league that searches not just for a game champion but also a console champion.

Play the Gamer is a 12 week league that offers pubs, bars and other venues the option of putting on their own games console league nights. Run by Living it Loving it entertainment and events company, the league offers exciting gaming nights and gives players a formatted gaming league. Every venue involved is guaranteed a minimum of four players at the regionals, where players battle to find the regional champions; the players who are good enough to play for the national title.

PTG uses a football game, racing game and fighting game as these have been voted the top gaming genres in the country. Appealing to a blend of audience and different gamers is the unique quality that PTG offers over any individual game tournaments.

The league is searching out the UK's best gamers, the national titles up for grab are: Fifa 10 UK Gamer Champion, NFS UK Gamer Champion, COD UK Gamer Champion and of course, the highest award of all, the first ever UK National Console Champion.

Play the Gamer is a chance to add a more social and interactive side to the gaming industry. GAME retail stores are in support of the league with a player recruitment drive through out all their stores.

Play the Gamer is not only a great night out for console fans but also offers a new event option for the UK's struggling hospitality industry. Play the Gamer moves away from classic pub entertainment and offers all venues a chance to draw a new audience from this hugely popular genre.

Living it Loving it put the emphasis on fun, friendly and affordable entertainment. They offer a selection of exciting products and services, ranging from trips to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, their Poker in the Pub league to the thrilling CSI nights. The common denominator in all the events is the aim of bringing communities and like minded people together.
